FOOD!

Aiden is going to be 8 months old on the 19th of February and has shown very little interest in solid foods. Pete and I have been catching alot of grief for not giving him solids, so we have tried given him a few little bites and he's not been a big fan. Yesterday, I decided to make some homemade babyfood and see how he likes that. I made 2 sweet potatoes into babyfood puree. He didn't really like it, but he did take 3-4 bites before puking everywhere. Poor baby just doesn't want real food. He did, however, like getting water from a sippy cup. I know he needs to eat "real" food eventually, but I enjoy the fact that he still 100% dependent on his Mommy! =)

Yesterday probably wasn't the best "time" to try baby food. I got called in to work Sunday and when I got home, he seemed a little congested, but I didn't worry too much. As the night went on, he seemed more and more stuffy and fussy. I called in to work Monday because he was not feeling well. He seemed to do ok during the day yesterday, but got alot worse last night. Pete and I suctioned him several times yesterday evening and throughout the night. He kept me up alot last night with his stuffiness and not really being able to eat well. I stayed home again today, and am so glad I did. Today is his worst day yet. I wish I could take away his sickness. I would much rather be sick myself than to see him miserable. He slept late this morning (11:00!!!) and is now taking another nap; maybe he can sleep some of it off.

In other news, Lauren got to come home from rehab a few days ago and really seems to be thriving well. We all (mostly Dad, Cindy, and Lauren) have alot of adjustments to make, but each day things are getting a little easier. Just keep praying that everything continues to fall into place. Also, pray that TennCare picks Lauren up. She has to have her medications, and they are very expensive. I won't even go into the hospital bills.....

Another big piece of news....Pete and I got to go on a date Saturday night! We left Aiden with Pete's parents, but Aiden didn't do so well (maybe because he was getting sick?). We went to see "Book of Eli". It was a terrible movie, in my opinion but not Pete's, but we really enjoyed our time alone. We love Aiden and feel incomplete when he's not around, but we know we have to feed our marriage. Our next date is for February 15th. We are going to the Melting Pot for Valentine's Day. I'm SUPER excited...about the Melting Pot and for having the best Valentine ever!!!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Today, we woke up to LOTS of snow! It was beautiful! Pete had to work from 11-4:30, but as soon as he got home, we got dressed warm and headed to Norris Dam to go sledding. We didn't last very long, because it was windy and freezing. Aiden's little cheeks were getting red, so we decided to come back home. He didn't seem to notice the snow, but Pete and I both got to sled down the hill a time or two. Before we got home, we stopped at the store for some essentials (Peanut M&Ms, Reese's Whipped, Skittles, Lemonade, and Chocolate Milk).

Soon after we got home, a few of our friends called and wanted to come see Aiden. Will and Whitney came and were going sledding later, so they had their sled with them. Pete wanted to try out the iced hill (on the road) by the house, so we got all bundled up again and went out to try out the hill. We flew down the hill! It was the best sledding ever! I only went down once, because I hit a big ball of snow and wrecked. It was worth it though. Well, I say that today, but tomorrow I probably won't be able to move my left arm. There's already a bruise showing up on my shoulder. Ooops.

Lauren was supposed to get a 8 hour pass to leave the hospital today, but wasn't able to get out due to the weather. The new plan is for her to use her pass tomorrow, but the roads are supposed to still be bad and refrozen over night, so we have to wait and see. She was really bummed to not get to leave today, but should be getting out of rehab Thursday. I'm ready for that day. I am on call to work tomorrow. I would like to be off with my boys, but the money is very enticing. Well, I have to get rested up in case I have to work tomorrow. Goodnight friends!

Aiden does the army crawl...

Today, Aiden and I spent most of the day around the house. We took a much needed nap this afternoon together, and it was AMAZING! We both needed it. Aiden is getting more and more mobile everyday. He's not officially "crawling" (like on all fours), but he can scoot anywhere he wants to go. He gets on his belly, and uses his elbows and toes to move all around. He is getting into EVERYTHING! Today, I created a little fortress for him out of laundry baskets. He was able to push them out of his way so he could get into Daddy's Wii accessories. He loves remotes, cell phones, and electrical cords more than any toy. Aiden and I ate breakfast for dinner at Granny's tonight. It was great to spend some time with her. Pete wasn't feeling well, so he stayed home. I brought Lizzie home. She's been with Granny for about a month, and we have really missed her here. Granny needed the company with Lauren gone, so Lizzie has been her roommate.

Tomorrow, Aiden and I will be going to see Lauren in the hospital. She is doing better and better everyday. I can't wait till she goes home. I know it will be a lot harder for her and Cindy and Dad, but I am so tired of spending hours and hours in the hospital. I am so thankful that Aiden has gotten sick from his many visits to the hospital, including all the crazy strangers who try to touch my baby. What is wrong with people? Who touches a stranger's baby?!? RUDE!

Aiden's getting fussy, so I suppose it's time for bed.

"The Story"

I have been contemplating starting a blog for a long time, and I've finally decided it's time. So, here it goes...

My life in a nutshell...
I am 24 years old. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, Pete, and have been for almost 5 years! *GASP!* We have the most perfect baby boy, Aiden, who is 7 months old and has brought out the best in us. We knew we were meant for each other, but our relationship has truly blossomed since he has been born. He is our world. We also have a Maltipoo, Lizzie, who will be 5 years old in April. She was our first "baby". She's very tempermental (sp?), but that's just her personality. She really loves us, and we love her. I work as a RN at East Tn Children's Hospital on a med/surg floor. I love my job, but wish we had the funds for me to only work one day a week or so. I feel like I'm missing out on parts of Aiden's life. But, for now, I have to work, and I'm ok with that. I also sell Mary Kay on the side. I LOVE my Mary Kay! I am very close to my family. I can't imagine life without my parents (and step-parents) and Granny around. I have some family that's spread out, but we try to get together as much as possible. We live in a REALLY old house in downtown Clinton. It's not our dream home, but we're here for now so we'll make the most of it. (I'm sure I will have lots of stories that come with living in an old house for ya.)

I'm not sure where I'm going with the blog, but I really want a journal of my life, and more importantly Aiden's life. So, here we go....
